As one of the largest ports in Norway and the most important main cargo handler in Western Norway, the Port of Karmsund has a growing need for digital security.

The Port of Karmsund is a company in significant growth with a large property portfolio and ambitious investment plans for the next 10 years. The company has a high level of activity at all its port areas, which requires a robust digital infrastructure in addition to creating a need for a seamless IT environment for employees.

In the fall of 2022, the Port of Karmsund conducted a comprehensive tender process in which several well-known companies submitted good offers. The main goal was to find an IT partner that could strengthen IT security and facilitate a seamless IT everyday life for the growing company. After a thorough evaluation, EMP Secure was chosen as the new supplier of IT operations for the Port of Karmsund.

EMP Secure's tasks will include the delivery of security services, user support, device operation of PCs, and further operation of the Port of Karmsund's Microsoft Tenant. The Port of Karmsund will receive a standardized package solution, which is flexible and scalable according to the number of employees and needs. In addition, we will act as an advisor for technology and help find customized solutions.

- "With EMP on our team, we have a total supplier who can ensure that we have efficient, user-friendly and secure IT operations. A supplier we can spar with and who understands our needs," says Martine Aas, Administration and IT Manager at the Port of Karmsund.

- We look forward to being a key partner for the Port of Karmsund within IT and security services. Our expertise in the maritime industry will ensure that the Port of Karmsund will have a safe, productive and modern IT platform adapted to their ambitions for further growth. EMP Secure and Hatteland are particularly pleased to be able to contribute to the Port of Karmsund's offensive plans as they provide increased value creation locally on Haugalandet, says Stine Valen, Commercial Director IT Solutions at EMP Secure.

Microsoft will implement two price increases in the near future, in addition to a change in the licensing model for cloud services. The changes apply globally and will thus affect everyone who uses Microsoft's services.

On a general basis, EMP Secure will recommend our customers to consider a binding of seat-based licenses so that the announced price increase is postponed for up to 12 months.

Details of the changes can be found below.

Price increase on Service Provider License Agreement (SPLA) licenses

SPLA is a licensing program that enables service providers (such as EMP Secure) to license Microsoft products to their customers. We are talking here about all licenses that are used as part of the services EMP Secure delivers from its own infrastructure / cloud solution.

Microsoft announces 5-10% price increase on SPLA licenses from January 1, 2022. The changes apply globally, include academic use and apply to the following licenses:

Price increase on Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) licenses

CSP is a licensing program that enables partners (such as EMP Secure) to deliver Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Office 365 services to their customers. We are talking here about all licenses used as part of the services EMP Secure provides from Microsoft's infrastructure / cloud solution.

Microsoft announces price increase for Microsoft 365 and Office 365 from March 1, 2022. These changes apply to the following products:

Microsoft 365 Business Basic

Changing the licensing model for cloud services from Microsoft

All seat-based products and services that until today have been covered by the CSP program will now instead be included in Microsoft's new program called New Commerce Experience (NCE).

In practice, this means several significant changes in price and flexibility for both EMP Secure as a partner and for end customers of these products.

The program mainly consists of 3 options for licensing where each customer must decide which option, or combination of options, will work best for them.

EMP Secure will be able to give good advice here so that together we arrive at the optimal solution for your particular company.

Option A - Monthly subscription

Option B - 12-month subscription
+
Option C - 36-month subscription
+
Combination of alternatives A, B and C

Schedule for transition CSP to NCE

January 1, 2022

From this date, customers can choose to change their subscription from CSP to NCE. If you then choose to change to NCE alternative B (12-month binding), you in practice postpone Microsoft's announced price increase which takes place from 1 March 2022 until the binding on NCE has expired.

March 1, 2022

On this date, one of two things will happen:
+
If you choose not to change subscription…
You have not actively considered options for NCE.

Your existing agreements on CSP will be subject to the announced price increase effective from March 1, 2022. All new licenses you need after this date must be purchased through the NCE program.
+
If you choose to change the subscription…
In the period 1 January - 28 February, you have chosen to switch from CSP to NCE alternative A or B.

You then relate to agreements entered into as described above.

After March 1, 2022

Option C is made available.
